“How do essential oils fit into health care? I thought they just smelled nice.”

Essential oils sure do smell nice, especially when they contain 100% plant material and no synthetics. There is a difference.
With the popularity of essential oils they are popping up all over – like at Target and Walmart. These essential oils are not considered therapeutic grade. While they may be helpful in covering up the smell of dog vomit…they are not going to provide any health benefit to you.
In fact, since these conventional oils are made in a lab with synthetics, you might react negatively to even just smelling them.
Pure therapeutic grade essential oils, which are made up of 100% plant material (flowers, roots, stems, leaves, bark), have great healing potential. These oils have been either steam distilled or cold pressed from the plant and gas chromatography charts have been made about their complex compounds. These plants contain different mixes of monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, alcohols, esters, aldehydes, phenols, ketones, etc.
I use and offer therapeutic grade essential oils in my practice. See my Essential Oils page for upcoming classes and information. Or please contact me with any questions.
